R&D – Target Audience

Looking at the information I found, I will focus on the children of 7 years old. Because of the technology nowadays, I can assume that learning becomes different. However, it could also affect children in a negative way. Technology can take skills away from children because everything is automated. That way, thinking skills are less developed and therefore the EF can be affected.

What I look at is using something that children know, like a tablet. It does not have to be a negative thing. A tablet can be very helpful and because children in this era know swiping sooner rather than crawling, it is only logical to use a tablet as an extension.

To get the know the 7-year-old a little bit better, I decided to do a little bit more research:

Every child’s development is unique and complex. Although children develop through a generally predictable sequence of steps and milestones, they may not proceed through these steps in the same way or at the same time. A child’s development is also greatly influenced by factors in his or her environment and the experiences he or she has. The information in this guide explains what child development experts consider to be “widely-held expectations” for what an average child might achieve within a given year.

Seven-year-olds enjoy having the opportunity to share their knowledge with others. They display a longer attention span and the ability to tolerate less-detailed directions and last-minute changes. Seven-year-olds are curious and frequently ask adults and peers questions to satisfy their need to know. They utilize increasingly complex and creative strategies to solve problems at home and at school. (PBS Parents, 2003)

A few keywords are standing out of the text above: sharing their knowledge, longer attention span, tolerate less-detailed directions and last minute changes. Children with a functioning EF can do these things. However, children without a function EF cannot and that is exactly what needs to be changed in order to finish your school and get a good job. In addition, seven-year-olds are curious, so keeping them curious with something helps them learn.

When thinking of a concept these are the things that need be kept in mind. In so doing, it could help the child in a maximum way.
